Cleveland's Upholstery was started by Jim and Audrey Cleveland in 1951. Audrey worked in a furniture factory laminating wood and refinishing while Jim was away in the Navy. after his return to Southern Ca. They moved to Orland Ca. There was a need for dinning room tables to be refinished so while Audrey was doing to wood work Jim began teaching himself to cover the seats and from that the business grew. The Cleveland's raised their 2 sons, Clyde and Dennis in the business and the Daughter Doris is the one who ended up taking it over. Doris and her husband Chuck Allard became partners in 1971.
The business went on the road for about 10 years with a traveling shop and worked in every state in the Continental U.S.A. while on the road we did resturants from Toosies Orchade Lounge in Nashville to the Purple Onions (a chain in the south) to Truck seats and then Sun screens working with Good Sam, Escapees and Family Motor Coach Ralies where we covered Class A, Mini motorhomes and made wheel shades and many custom items.
We came back to the home shop and in 1985 Both Jim and Chuck died and Audrey retired within a year. Doris's Son, Jesse then became a partner and worked in the business for the next 15 years off and on until he moved to Missouri in 2009
The family business is still in the hands of Doris who having been raised in the business has learned it from the inside out and loves the creativity. I have learned every aspect of the job and love it all. From stripping the furniture to the final tack or staple. I love to take it from old and worn out to fabulouse, comfortable, from plain to a show peice. But having worked in a small town in good times and bad. I know how to cut corners and save you money... or do a top end job at a fair price.
I will let you help or do what you are able or I will do it all. I can recomend a decorator I have worked with, or I can give you my opinion and you the decorating basics...
I am here to serve you or if I can't I will recomend someone who I think can do the job you want done if you live in this area, after all isn't that what small town people do.

We have been in Orland serving the greater Orland area for over 50 years and in that time we have only had a hand full of unhappy customers and we will usually work with them to correct the problem. Our business has been successful primarally from customer referalls. Reupholstering makes good sence as the quality of new furniture is constantly declining.
With a photo of your piece of furniture and a few questions I can give you a free estimate without comming into your home... although If you come and get samples and need me to look at the project I will come and get the samples and give you a price if you are in my service area.
